Financial Literacy Competencies for Adult Learners
Financial literacy is the ability to understand money issues and to have the funds under control. It also means having the skills to manage credit and debt reasonably and to make sound financial decisions.
Objectives
- Promote the development of key competencies, namely those related to financial literacy among adults;
- Development of materials that will be used both by users and trainers in order to prevent indebtedness;
- Promote the dialogue between educators and the community including those with social responsibility in finances;
- To help provide adults with pathways to improving their knowledge and competencies;
- To facilitate the development of innovative practices in adult education and their transfer;
- To improve pedagogical approaches and the management of adult education organization;
- To improve the quality and to increase the volume of cooperation between organizations involved in adult education throughout Europe.
Main products
In order to improve the financial literacy competencies of adult learners in order to prepare them for the challenges and temptations of the consumer society and to prevent situations of financial indebtedness, some products will be developed:
- Framework of competencies developed in Financial Literacy;
- Toolbox for adult users;
- Handbook for trainers;
- Curricula for financial literacy;
